A NORTH Richmond councillor who was elected as a Conservative
Whip when the Conservatives took the reins of power within Richmond
upon Thames last May, announced his resignation this week.
Cllr Marc Cranfield-Adams resigned from his post of
Conservative Whip and will now sit as an Independent Conservative.
Richmond upon Thames council leader, Tony Arbour said:
"This man is a serial resigner. He did not tell us that he
had previously resigned from the Tory Party.
| "If he had any honour he would resign
from the council so that the residents of North Richmond could
be represented by three councillors who put a safer cleaner,
and better borough above their own personal, private agenda."

Leader of the Liberal Democrats and Kew councillor,
Serge Lourie said: "I should like to comment as Leader of the
Liberal Democrat Group on the news that Cllr Cranfield-Adams has
resigned from the Conservative Group
"This is clearly an internal Tory matter, although
I am surprised that this happened only seven months after the election."
At the time of going to press Cllr Cranfield-Adams
did not wish to comment.
